Miniature cacti

My neighbor has lot of cacti in her garden. I always wonder why some one puts in a lot of effort in growing something like cactus. But, she has shown me the flowers and I was surprised to see the beauty of those..those soft, bright, silky petals.. I couldn't wait much to add these to my paper garden.

Even the crate was made from paper..

Here is a pic with the original counterparts..

And the mess I create along the way -

Miniature flower vase

This is my another attempt to make a quilling vase. It has got some shape now..Glad about it. Now that it is season of Rakhi, I've put in one there to photographically say that this is a miniature vase and to symbolize the festival..

Assorted quilling daisies

I purchased quilling stuff from craftadda a while ago....left with assorted colors, in little quantity...Before I place my order, I want to finish off the left over strips for some colorful project...I came across an assorted daisy frame in fellow blogger's page and it looked so beautiful to me..I just can't wait any longer to give it a try..Here is my version of assorted daisies frame..

Quilling Ear Rings - 5

My next set of quilling ear rings...using the pliers that my sis has sent..

Quilling hair clips

My first attempt to make quilling hair accessories..My father is traveling to my sister's place this summer and I wanted to send something special for my lil gunnu. She is too young for quilling ear rings..then came this idea of quilling hair clips...Drafted ~20 varieties and finally managed to finish these..The toughest part is sticking them on to the plain clips...After doing little bit of research, I went ahead with tying a thread on to the broader side of the clip and then gluing the quilling piece on to it, rather than directly pasting it on to metal. Let's see of these can withstand gunnu's stress test.

Cakes..cakes

Well..My brother drinks soft drinks a lot and I hate to keep all those empty bottles. So, I discard them. But, one day I felt that I can reuse the caps of these bottles, instead of a quilling coil for the base of cake and hence keep storing them. One fine sunday, when there are no house hold chores to do and lot of caps lying there to turn into cakes, what else do I do..Got a piece of paper and crayons and started drawing all kinds of cakes that came to my mind and started working on them. Well, anyways I'm planning to set up a miniature bakery (a noble request from my younger son, when I made miniature florist shop for my elder one) and I would need lot of cakes to fill it in. And here they are...I'm obviously very eager to show this to my younger one and see if he can figure out these as cakes.. Yet to pass the test I take before I post any of my quilling craft...Waiting for my son to come back to Hyderabad after his summer vacation :)

For all the women out there...

Happy Women's day

Ear rings project on Republic day

It is 26th January. As sun rises in the east, I could hear the patriotic songs from the community hall which is just opposite to our home. Yes. It is republic day. Just felt like quilling something quickly before I join there for flag hoisting..A couple of ear rings and a small rose bunch inspired by the tri color flag..Here they are:
