The beauty of simplicity

It was the last day for code delivery and I was literally getting mad as the delivery attempts were failing for no fault of us..It was more like watching an Indo-pak cricket match. Will it get through successfully this time? I've shut myself in a room (in which I keep my craft stuff)..laptop on one side...books on another side (to get myself diverted)..Then, my lil monkey came and asked why I've not been doing any craft in recent past. Yes.. why am I not doing? For any craft, I need some inspiration. Out of our conversation, he wanted me to make some simple bouquet..He only picked the red & green colored strips and here is the simplest stuff I could do with his choice of colors..When I'm in this mood of doing crafts, I literally forget everything..I didn't even realize that the delivery happened and it went smoothly this time...

8 cute flowers for my lil one..

More than 100 days since my previous post..Load at work place kept me away from my craft activities and I'm back to life now..Here is a post which is about a set of 8 quilling flowers (indicating 8th birthday of my elder son, who is a craft -lover)..I know pink & purple are girlish and you might be wondering why I've chosen these colors..Come on..come out of this stereotypical thoughts..

2015 - Summary

Just before I move to do something new in this new year, here is the stuff that I've framed up in the year gone by..So, replaced all the existing ones hanging on the walls, with this new stuff.
Something new I did this time, was to add my sign at bottom right corner of the frame..

As usual, I failed to capture a clean picture of the frames and this is the best I could shot with my smart phone :(

Oohh...Just realized that this is my 100th post....Patting back myself :)

Miniature bakery

Here comes my collection of paper quilled cakes and bakery items.. One for the new year, 2016 :)
When I made miniature florist shop, my son gave this idea of creating a miniature bakery. I attempted to do one from an empty sweet box, trying to make the shelves myself, but it resulted in vain :(
Those shelves couldn't hold the cakes for a long time..So, waited patiently for a stiff holder and here comes one from my neighbor..She has been to Dubai and bought a box of dates..I loved the box more than the dates as I know it would be perfect for holding my miniature cakes...

Clay Jewellery

When my sister visited us last year, she gave me a terracotta chain and as usual I've locked it inside and never bothered to wear it. During my recent trip to my hometown for Diwali, I wore this and everyone (including myself) liked it very much. Aah..such a piece of beauty made from clay. On the way back from home, I've spend the 5 hour drive doing some R&D on clay jewellery making. The journey felt like a very short one this time, other wise I used to feel the journey was very tiresome and long :) Even kids supported me and they had a good nap..Like Pualo Coelho says - "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it". The most important piece seems to be the baking phase for which I don't have a kiln or a conventional over. Never mind..I wanted to give a try with no-bake-air-dry clay.

On Friday, after coming back from work, gone to a nearby bookshop for the materials. There is just variety of air dry clay..so, job made easier..no need to study all available varieties to find the one that best suits me..And picked some acrylic colors (keeping in mind the recent saris that were added to my ward robe). Started my work at 10:00 pm and have drawn some patterns in a book, borrowed my kids coloring kit and painted these patterns. You can see the mess here :-
Then, prepared two pendants and handful of beads. It took almost 30 minutes for them to get dried, after which I started painting the pendants. I could have waited for one color to dry completely, but in a hurry to finish the project, I've painted the pendants in various colors and clicked pic and send across to my sis for feedback and then off to bed.

It was a peaceful Saturday. Of-course lot of other stuff to do. But, can't wait to finish off my first clay chain, painted the beads in three colors and let them dry for an hour, after which I started assembling the piece and realized that these beads were sufficient only for one chain. Anyways, finished it and showed it off my first critic - my m-i-l and she liked it and then clicked pics and send them across. Can't wait till Monday to show them off to my friends :)

Spend rest of the day in preparing beads for two more chains and another pendant, sufficient enough for the 3  new saris :)

Same piece with a different pattern at the back of the pendant..
